A New JLP Workshop on the Horizon
In the last few years, there have been many legal developments on harassment and violence in the workplace, including the adoption of Bill C-65 in October 2018.
Following consultations with experts from employer and bargaining agents on the objectives and learning activities, the JLP is developing a workshop that will reflect the new legal landscape.
The new workshop will cover warning signs, risk factors and the impact of harassment and violence. It will examine the new Canada Labour Code health and safety provisions on harassment and violence, the human rights framework under the Canadian Human Rights Act, and other relevant laws, policies and collective agreement provisions.
The roles and responsibilities of the employer, the union and employees in the workplace will be discussed.
What’s new for participants?
Participants will explore how diversity and inclusion, civility and respect, psychological health and safety, a gender-based analysis and Truth and Reconciliation can foster a safer and healthier workplace for all.
Finally, participants will explore how they can deal with harassment when it occurs in their workplace. The new workshop will be piloted in early 2019.
Stay tuned for the new workshop scheduled to be launched in April 2019. More details to follow in the coming months.
