We’re recruiting!
Looking for agents of change
- Are you a public-service employee looking to promote positive change in the federal public service?
- Are you interested in guiding important conversations in the workplace about issues that concern us all?
- Do you identify as a person who is Indigenous, Black and/or racialized?
Meet the challenge: contact the Joint Learning Program (JLP) and apply to become a facilitator today!
Facilitating with the JLP will help you develop communication and leadership skills that will not only foster a stronger public service but also nourish your career, your network and the workplace as a whole.
The Joint Learning Program’s unique mandate is to improve labour-management relations and to foster a deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the union and the employer in the workplace. The learning events designed to fulfil this mandate are co-facilitated by two public-service employees, one representing the union and one representing the employer.
New direction, new products, new opportunities
In response to the upheaval of 2020, the JLP has designed an entirely new series of guided discussions for public-service employees. This discussion series, entitled Empowering Conversations, offers discussions on relevant and current topics. Co-facilitated by JLP facilitators, these sessions are offered via teleconference or videoconference, and are usually less than half a day in length.
While several sessions are still in development, the two guided discussions launched in 2020 have seen unprecedented success. Over 540 sessions have taken place so far across Canada.
2021 – What’s Next?
The Program is now actively recruiting new facilitators from across the country to help fill the demand for its new series. In addition, they will facilitate the Program’s regular in-person workshops when it is safe to do so. We are looking for people who have a fondness for guiding groups, want a new challenge, are looking to develop new skills and want to make a difference in the federal public-service workplace. We are seeking facilitators to represent both the union and the employer. Candidates should have a keen interest in the topics that are covered by the JLP and be comfortable facilitating in a virtual setting until our in-person workshops resume.
