A Multi-Generational Orientation for BC-Yukon
The JLP’s recent facilitator orientation session in the British Columbia-Yukon region brought together new facilitators from across the country for a week of learning and growing together in Vancouver.Regional Field Coordinators Michael Van Nen (union) and Margot Cutcher (employer) hosted new facilitators from the Prairies-Northwest Territories, National Capital and the British Columbia-Yukon regions.
I loved the experience. I felt like I met so many like-minded individuals. It was such a great learning experience. Thank you!
- Tarrah Kirk, CSC, Union
Program Officers Kole Killibarda (union) and Suze MacFarlane (employer) guided participants through JLP learning kits, namely Preventing Harassment and Violence in the Workplace, Understanding the Collective Agreement and Duty to Accommodate, activities which also honed their communication and facilitation skills.
The JLP learning event has been overwhelmingly positive. I’m so surprised how such a diverse group came together so well, I cannot recommend this highly enough. - Michael Dinh, ESDC Labour Program, Employer
When participants met up with experienced facilitators mid-week, one particular new facilitator’s mother dropped by to talk about her experience facilitating with the JLP! The multi-generational team is looking forward to co-facilitating in the near future. Both mother and daughter spoke about the JLP’s impact in their personal and professional lives alike. And of course, getting to meet and hear from so many established JLP facilitators in the region made the week even more special for everyone.
The JLP welcomes its newest facilitator cohort!
