“I thoroughly enjoyed this training and feel confident as a new facilitator. ”

The JLP is happy to welcome fourteen new facilitators to its ranks. Federal public service employees from the Ontario-Nunavut, Atlantic and National Capital regions participated virtually in the five-day JLP Facilitator Orientation Session from January 25th to February 3rd, 2022.
The participants began the session by experiencing activities from the Anti-Racism: Let’s Talk!, one of the highly requested guided discussions from the Empowering Conversations series. One of the participants, Rhonda Beauvais shared her belief that we are in a time of positive change in Canada, and she reminded the group of the importance of remaining hopeful when doing anti-racism work. The practice facilitation exercises also centered around this much-needed session so that by the end of the orientation, the group was committed to being agents of change using education as their tool to dismantle racism.
At the group graduation ceremony, on the final day, participants Renée Campbell and Christine Griffin conducted a lively trivia activity calling on the group to recollect fun facts about members of their cohort. The graduation was also attended by Roxanne Lepine (JLP Co-Director), Nathalie Duquette (JLP Program Officer) and the Regional Field Coordinators from the represented regions.
The virtual orientation session was facilitated by Rachel Besharah (JLP Program Officer) and Terri-Lee Rayvals-Mele (consultant) along with the Program Delivery Administrator, Désirée Yaxley, who was the moderator.
“This JLP VOS was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is even considering becoming involved….I was able to participate in shared learning with many others in a diverse group and can't wait to reconnect with some of them! ”
