The JLP launches an updated Respecting Differences and Anti-Discrimination in-person workshop

The JLP is excited to announce the launch of the refreshed Respecting Differences and Anti-Discrimination (RDAD) in-person workshop. RDAD was one of the very first in-person workshops launched by the JLP and has been redesigned and refined to better reflect present-day public-service realities.

This one-day workshop aims to raise awareness about the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and introduce unionized employees and their managers to practical skills and effective strategies for building a discrimFour people stand in a line, admiring a sunset. •        Engage unionized employees and managers in examining the benefits of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) at work.
  •        Enhance participants’ knowledge of privilege and power as elements of systemic discrimination.
  •        Familiarize participants with key anti-discrimination terms and the difference between individual, institutional, and systemic discrimination.
  •        Give participants space to critically reflect on race and racism in North America and how these concepts show up in their lives.
  •        Share helpful skills and existing legislation/policies that can help in challenging discriminatory behaviours at work.
  •        Examine everyone’s roles and responsibilities in maintaining a work environment that is free from discrimination.

With new materials, new activities, new concepts and a fresher look, the JLP is confident that participants will find this updated workshop enriching and informative.
